Newtons Cove and the Nothe Gardens short Weymouth walk

Newtons cove is a small cove overlooking the Portland breakwater, Portland harbour and the isles of Portland. With fantastic views, Newtons cove is a great place for a walk and to enjoy the peace away from Weymouth beach, it is one of the most scenic short Weymouth walks. The rockpools are full of wildlife the closeby Nothe gardens that run along the seawall at Newtons cove are a great place to relax and have a picnic. The walk along Newtons cove follows the coastline before winding in through the Nothe gardens, and along the edge of the Nothe Fort, from which you can either visit the Nothe Fort, enjoy the Nothe gardens or take the steps down to the harbour where you can walk along the stone pier or in the other direction back along Weymouth harbour, past the beautiful colourful fishermans Weymouth harbour cottages and back towards the town.

Newtons cove and the Nothe gardens are an ideal spot for a bit of peace and quiet in Weymouth. During the Olympics, Newtons cove and the Nothe gardens were a huge attraction for people watching the watersports off the coast. The picture here shows the walk round to the Nothe to the Nothe Fort with the small shingle beach and rockpools at Newtons cove.
