Portland Bill Bird Observatory Picture

Portland Bill is Portlands most popular tourist spot, the famous red and white Portland Bill Lighthouse is still in use to this day, replacing a number of older lighthouses around this site that have safeguarded the dangerous rocky coast around Portland Bill for centuries. This picture of Portland Bill however doesn't show Portland Bill lighthouse, it shows the huts and Portland coastguard cottages as well as one of Portlands older lighthouses that used to warn ships to steer clear of the dangerous rocky shores around Portland Bill. The old Portland lower lighthouse stands a little further inland to Portland Bill Lighthouse as can be seen in the picture and is now used as the Portland Bill bird observatory.
